[00:00:00] Speaker A: This was for the home team. This was for the home team. [00:00:12] Speaker B: All right. Hey, welcome to Tailgate Beers, Austin, Ryan. Hey, we're out on the road today, and we have the very distinct pleasure of sitting here with some friends of ours at Tailgate and Tallboys at cruisings. These guys just put on a heck of a show. We're on their bus, actually, and I love listening. They have a new album out. We're going to get into all of that here in just a little bit, so. Yes, let's welcome Lakeview to Tailgate and Beers. [00:00:43] Speaker C: Let's go. [00:00:44] Speaker A: What's up, guys? [00:00:45] Speaker D: What's going on? It's good to be here with you. [00:00:47] Speaker C: How'd the show go tonight? [00:00:48] Speaker A: Show was sick. We played. We were on tour with daughtry and stained and breaking Benjamin, and they were probably fucking 12,000 people out there, so not too bad. [00:01:01] Speaker C: It sounded amazing from the beginning nights of cruisins to. To this. I was blown away standing up there, taking it in. [00:01:08] Speaker D: We're just happy to, like, even be on this tour. But the fact is, like, you've been there from such an early stage of me and Jesse doing this, like, putting this actually on the road. It's so awesome that y'all were able to come out here and see. See this, like, at this level. It's. It's, like, fucking surreal, man. [00:01:27] Speaker C: Oh, I appreciate you having us. And I was showing Ryan on the way up here about, and I wasn't even sure what you guys were in as far as vehicle wise. I was telling him about the. About the van. I showed him the reel about the van getting left in Arizona or whatever it was. And then when I rolled up, I'm like, this is, this is nice. [00:01:43] Speaker A: The boys are moving. [00:01:44] Speaker C: We got wood handling. [00:01:45] Speaker A: We got shiplap. Yeah, the boys are moving up. Boys are moving up. Yeah. [00:01:49] Speaker B: So what's the experience been? Like you said, you're out on tour with some great rock and roll, you know, mixing in the country there. What's it been like that you've been out with these guys and fairly early on in this tour? [00:02:03] Speaker D: Well, I mean, it's obviously, like, crazy. I mean, like, we never thought in a million years that we were going to be able to come out here and do something like this with such legendary bands. I mean, these are household name bandst. Stained. I mean, come on. Aaron Lewis. Like, I've worked for Aaron Lewis in stained multiple times in my life. The fact that I get to share a stage with them and that they signed off, like, okay, like, on Lakeview being on this tour is. Is just a massive blessing. It blows my mind every single day. When we pull up here, we wake up and we're in this parking lot with some of the biggest rock bands to walk the earth right now, you know? [00:02:44] Speaker A: Yeah, we were talking earlier about playing to people that don't know who we are. And I think we, as Lakeview, all of us thrive in those situations. Like looking out in the crowd and we can see by the first song they're like, I don't know, this is kind of weird. And then by the second song they're like a little bit into it. And then by the end of the set, you know, it's like. It's like a fun game for me and Luke to try and win all these people over. By the end of the set. I mean, these people are fucking standing up and screaming and it's. It's just, it's fun. That's the same experience when we first started playing tailgates was the same way. You guys were like, you're just gonna play this stage and we're like, alright, fuck it. Yeah, let's do it. And then nobody knows who we are there and we just come out. [00:03:26] Speaker D: No, we never quit. We never quit. We just keep going. [00:03:29] Speaker C: It's gotta be tough to overthink. Like, did they like it? I mean, you could get lost as an artist of where. How your fans are reacting. If people are standing there just staring at you. You could overthink the shit out of that. Yeah, but now when you guys are like, I don't get a fucking. I hope you guys actually don't like us when we come out and it's actually gives us more, you know, fuel for the fire. [00:03:51] Speaker A: Yeah, for sure. [00:03:51] Speaker C: And then next, you know, like I said, I was standing there watching these people. Guys, got a beer. All right, what time staying, honey? What time stain? Come on. I don't know what that. What's the next thing? And the next, you know, third song, guys kind of like this. You know, the next thing he's, you know, he's getting into it. [00:04:05] Speaker A: You got the arm. [00:04:06] Speaker C: Funny that people. [00:04:07] Speaker D: I think the biggest thing is like, we focus on and you've seen us so many times, it's like, you know this, like, we are the same people that are standing in that crowd. Like, we are the same folks. So when we're on that stage and we. I know for a fact if I was standing out there, I'd be like, who the fuck is this? And why the fuck are they on this tour? This, like, almost annoying that I have to stand through this until I get to heard daughtry go on or breaking Ben or stain. It's like, well, you know what? Like, I know for a fact that, like, if some dude was up there being like, hey, don't try to cool guy me. Like, let's forget about all the bullshit in the world and let's just party right now and realize that we also worked our asses off to be here just like you did to buy this fucking ticket. Ain't cheap. [00:05:00] Speaker C: Yes. [00:05:00] Speaker D: Ain't cheap to be here. And which makes sense. I mean, you're. These are legendary bands, but we also worked our ass off to be here, and we're going to fucking pump you up until you just fucking give in, because that's what we. That's what you need. We need it. I need that shit. I need that from bands. [00:05:17] Speaker C: I think this is an easier crowd, in my opinion, compared to Tailgate. Some of the tailgates you've got, you know, Matt Hansen or more of a poppish person or a country artist that is not in the hard rock, and you guys come out and people are like, man. But again, most of those people, only because of the raw emotion, how you guys put out there and leave it out there. People are like, I love this shit, and I don't even like rock music. [00:05:41] Speaker A: Yeah, I think I do, but, yeah, I think it's just like, the people are just dying to have a good time, and we are the fucking concierge is of good time. You know? I mean, like, that's. That's what we're gonna do. [00:05:53] Speaker C: Why we're friends. [00:05:54] Speaker A: Yeah. And that's our only goal up there, is just to be like, yo, you might not like this, but, man, you're gonna like it when it's done because you just can't not bob your fucking head to it or raise a glass or shotgun a beer or, like, you know, it's just. We're gonna force you to, like, me. [00:06:09] Speaker D: And Jesse set out from the jump to. To do what we're doing right now. Like, this tour is exactly what we're talking about. Like, going from tailgates to going on tour with Mitchell Tenpenny to being on this tour right now. Like, we sought out to do this because, like I said, there's a bunch of people out there that are just like me. I like all of it. And, like, what. What's really nice about it is, like, we try to write a dynamic, like, album that we just dropped. But, like, you can find every song in that, in that whole list of songs that you're gonna be like, oh, I like this one. I like this one. Oh, that one's too heavy or whatever. And then you have the elitist people are like, I only like money where mouth isn't home team. And it's like, okay, well, that's fine. That's okay because we wrote that for you then, Mandev. Like, that's fine. But, like, it's cool that we get to come on to a tour like this and we have the songs that make sense to go out there and play. [00:07:06] Speaker B: So I want to go back to a little bit closer to the beginning for you two. And I know you guys were in separate bands doing. Doing your own thing, met and then just kind of figured out that you could do something together. Talk to us about that. [00:07:19] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, I think we just have had, like, a rich history, obviously, in rock and hardcore growing up. And then also the areas in which we did grow up. We also grew up on country music. So it kind of was a no brainer as we just started writing music. We didn't really put any. We weren't like, ooh, let's write country music, or, oh, let's write this weird fusion of rock and country. And it just was like a natural thing. And I think we really honed what we do at places like cruisins when we go out on tour with Mitchell Tenpenny way back in the day, and we play these songs live and we're like, oh, people there are, there are people who want to hear this type of music. So, like, it just encouraged me and Luke to just lean into that side because at the time, nobody was really doing it. You know, Hardy was still predominantly a country artist and jelly roll wasn't as, as big as he is now. Thankfully, those guys, because of what they have done, has now almost like, okayed us to do what we do as well. So we're able to find a lot of fans at a Mitchell show or if we play with Matt Hansen or if we, or if we play with Brantley Gilbert, like, we're able to play this stuff live and people receive it now. And it's. It's a. It's a really cool time to be touring, writing the music that we're writing, putting out the album. [00:08:31] Speaker D: And, yeah, you ask. Ask who's the biggest Lakeview fans in the world. Me and Jesse. Like, this is the shit that we want to hear. Like, that's it. That's where it comes from. We want to hear this. And we wanted to do something we never done before. And it became. It started as a passion thing just because we needed to write music to. Now we're here, you know, hanging with y'all. [00:08:55] Speaker C: Do you feel like there's a chip on your shoulder? As far as the past several years, I mean, you guys have gone through the grind of bartending while riding, doing the Nashville grind in a different way than maybe others. You guys weren't sitting there playing Broadway every night, but you guys were grinding, playing shows, getting on gigs. And at that time, this was not a popular rock country, was not popular by the industry, by the people in it. I mean, do you feel like there's still that chip that you guys have? [00:09:24] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, I think. I think that's the only thing that's keeping us going. And, you know, it's like, there's a lot of people that passed on it in the beginning and. And thankfully, those people are. The industry has okayed them to like it now, but I think we wouldn't be here if we didn't have a chip on our shoulder. You know, I think I. You ask any athlete or, like, anybody pursuing something to be the greatest of what they want to do, they're like, they are their biggest fan, and that's how we are. So it's like, yeah, we do have a chip on our shoulder. Not as. Not in a cocky way, but more of just like, we've worked really fucking hard to be here, and we deserve to be here. And it's really, really awesome now that it's connecting with people and we're meeting people. You saw the vip today. Like, these people are in driving 8 hours to come see us play, open a first to four slot on an amphitheater show. Like, they are. They understand the vision and, like, they're part of this, like, home team thing that we've created. And I think without the chip on your shoulder that you just passively make music. And it's good, but it's got to. [00:10:26] Speaker C: Feel good that last night you said you played in front of 15,000 people, and I don't know how many people are out there tonight, but there was a plenty of people there that were having a great time listening to you guys, for sure. [00:10:35] Speaker B: There was a lot of them that were singing every word, you know? [00:10:37] Speaker D: Yeah. Really impressed. Like, it's. It's always like, you know, in a show this magnitude in this size, like, a lot of our fans don't have the income to stand right up front, you know, so. So there's a lot of fans there, and they're excited to see us, and. But I can't. I can't even see without my glasses on, so they're all the way back in the lawn. And so, like, like, to add to your point earlier, it's like, how do you keep pushing forward when you're not sure if everybody's into. Especially nowadays, you have these in ears and you can't hear the crowd. You can barely hear if they scream anything back at all or applaud or whatever. But tonight was different. It was like, just a lot of folks really showed up tonight to show the support, man. And it just really, the home team showed up. It was awesome. [00:11:27] Speaker C: I reached out September 16, 2021 is when I first reached out on social media. I was like, where are you guys touring at? Who are you with? So that's two days from now. And then I looked back at those messages after, when we were going back and forth. I was like, holy shit. Mitchell's group just said, you guys are getting added to Lakeview show in November. And then that's the first time we ever hung out, blacked out. Don't remember going on Mitchell's bus. And we had a great time. And I remember getting, like, the two day later text like, man, thanks for having us at cruises. Sure was fun. [00:12:01] Speaker D: That's a night I forgot that I'll never forget. You know what I mean? You got up on the party. That's the wildest night, man. [00:12:08] Speaker A: Got on the bar. I fell asleep on the side of the highway. Fell asleep as generous passed out on the side of the highway. It was great. We met you guys, and after that show, we were all like, we were going to be friends with them for a very long time. [00:12:20] Speaker D: Absolutely. Yeah. Y'all left a tattoo on my liver that I'll never forget. Mandy. It's. It's there forever. [00:12:27] Speaker A: Yeah. When. When we went there and we're like, yeah, Wayne, can we just, like, get some bottles of water? [00:12:33] Speaker C: I don't. [00:12:33] Speaker A: I don't know what the rider is. You know, we're just like, not nervous. We're just trying to be nice. And he was like, what are you fucking talking about? I'm like, well, I don't know. I'm just like, the guys are hungry. He's like, open tab at the bar. And all of us were like, what? [00:12:46] Speaker D: Holy shit. You're gonna regret that. Yeah, we, like, go around. We're like, don't eat too much, don't drink too much. We're like, telling all guys, like, just be respectful. [00:12:55] Speaker C: I felt so bad because we were on Mitchell's bus and the next day I was like, I don't. I don't remember getting off. I don't remember really what happened after that. And it was all because while he was playing, we were overdoing shots. And I'm like, that was. That was rough. I don't even know. [00:13:10] Speaker D: I think. [00:13:10] Speaker C: I don't know who was leading the jack push, but that was crazy. But then again, you guys have played there multiple times. And, you know, circling to that, seeing you show up with Mitchell, who Mitchell has, you know, shout out. He is sold out every time, man. Amp up. Then you guys come back, sell. I don't remember how many tickets. Double the next time. [00:13:30] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:13:30] Speaker C: You know, and every single time, then you go side stage, then you come back, then you go main stage. Last year, I mean, that to me was the best feeling in the world. Some people that, you know, that was close to. [00:13:43] Speaker D: We're right there with you, man. Like that, being able to show up to something like tailgate tall boys, which is single handedly our favorite show to play out of anything, any other show for the whole year, that to be able come out and play mainstage and have all those people there, and not only just have all those people there to finally play in front of all that size of new people, it's to have that many people there and so many people be into it and know it like they actually knew it. And y'all helped us build that, like, from the ground up, wet cruisings and doing the tailgate stuff. And it's like, man, like, that shit was fucking. It was wild this year. Like, this year was just. Was so fucking wild. The best year by far. [00:14:32] Speaker A: It's not as easy as blowing up on tick tock, but, man, it feels a lot better than doing that. Oh, like, we're only used to that. Like when we were kids. You just get in a van with your friends and you play a city. Then a few months later, you go back and you play the same city, and that same city will have more kids if you put on a good show. So it's like, we come play with Mitchell, put on the best show we can. The next time we come back, I mean, we sell, whatever, 100 tickets, something like that. We play like it's sold out. But then the next time there's 250, then you play like it's sold out. And then you go to tailgates and you play like you're fucking headlining. It's like, right, if you have that energy and have that chip on your shoulder every time you play. No one is. If there's five people, 500 people, 5000 people, no one's gonna leave that show and be like, man, it was alright. It was boring. They might be like, I wasn't the biggest fan, but holy shit, those guys put on a show. Yeah. And you'll tell somebody about it. And then next time, you know, don't. [00:15:23] Speaker D: Don'T sell anybody short. This, it's their show. Like, y'all, y'all booked a show, but it's like, this is their show. This ain't a lake view show. This is their show. They paid to come to a show. And I see us play, but it's their show. Like, we are performing for them. [00:15:39] Speaker C: Whether it's five people or. [00:15:40] Speaker D: Exactly, dude, a dude tonight, he drove seven and a half hours to come to this show today and then bought vip to come take a picture with us and, and talking. And I'm like, dude, what? I I don't, I can't give you enough, man. That is fucking amazing, man. Thank you. It's like, so you imagine it's like, yeah, the crowd isn't going insane and everybody's kinda just sitting now. It's like, yeah, we could let that, we could let that sit with us. But there's a motherfucker out there that drove seven and a half fucking hours, missed a whole day of work and spent a hundred odd dollars to be here today, not including gas. You know, it's like, bro, that dude deserves every fucking ounce of sweat I fucking got in this show. [00:16:26] Speaker C: You know, your speech alone gives will give somebody goosebumps. When you start going into your, your speech about, again, the blue collars, I start, wow. [00:16:34] Speaker D: And sometimes I just get, I get crazy. And then Jessica, I'm starting to see thing and I'm like, oh, shit. [00:16:41] Speaker C: But real quick because I know, right? I know Ryan has some topics I have to go to. Your playing for people when it's in a fucked up situation, let's say you guys'first main stage play ever at tailgate and Tallboys. I come up and you guys, again, Jesse kind of gives me the, yeah, n fine. I don't know. We gotta wear like, these fucking booties. And I, I don't know. [00:17:07] Speaker D: I'm like, what? [00:17:09] Speaker C: And I'm immediately on my phone, I'm messaging, I'm, I don't know. And it's getting ready to go on and I'm calling Wayne and I kept running to Braden and you guys are already going on and I'm I couldn't stop it because there's the white carpet out there, and you guys roll with it. You know how many artists would have this, dude, fuck this. Like, I don't know. This is. This. It would change their performance. Yeah, you guys were like, fuck it. [00:17:33] Speaker D: Fuck it. Fuck the pierce the booties, man, on my booze. Those motherfuckers don't realize the motherfuckers act like that. Don't know what it cost in time and years to be on that stage at Tailgate Tallboy. They're blessed. They're blessed. If you didn't hear of an artist for a whole year and all sudden they're on tailgate tall boy, and they're like, oh, I love this song, or whatever the fuck they do. That motherfucker has no idea how blessed they are to walk out on that stage. The people who headline that stage have given everything, lost every fucking relationship, every fucking ounce of fucking money. They've. They've been probably kicked out of their house, like, shit like that. They've lost it all. And you get to share that stage. So when somebody was just like, hey, can you put these little things on your feet to. To walk all the way out on the catwalk that y'all always have an insanely sick stage? Hell yeah, dude. I don't think. Whatever, man. [00:18:34] Speaker A: I've done a lot worse. Yeah. [00:18:36] Speaker C: So the story, to sum it up, it was that there was a white carpet out there, and a stage hand had said, everybody, because they've been threatened within an inch. I probably. Everybody's got to wear these. If you guys like, okay. Kind of weird, but we're all putting booties on. [00:18:54] Speaker A: It was like four songs in. And is it Braden? [00:18:56] Speaker C: Yeah. Cuz I find Braden, he's on the. [00:18:58] Speaker A: Side, and he's looking. Me goes, what the fuck are you doing? [00:19:00] Speaker D: Yeah, he's such a cool dude, man. [00:19:05] Speaker A: I walk in, I was like, what? He's like, take those fucking things off your feet. [00:19:08] Speaker D: What do you. [00:19:09] Speaker A: Who told you to wear those? I was like, you know, it's a fucking guy with no teeth. [00:19:12] Speaker D: The artist, like, y'all can. Y'all can, like, not wear that. I was like, well, I do. [00:19:16] Speaker C: Hey, man, we're just what you were told. And I love him. And I'm like, laughing, cuz, mid song, like, well, we're told we can take these fucking things off, throw those, and, oh, that was. [00:19:25] Speaker D: Yeah, it wasn't a rule I wanted to follow, but I thought it was a rule. And guess what? I'm gonna fucking follow the rules. You know why? Because I don't want any but anybody catching shit for that on my behalf. And we want to be the last problem everywhere. But we also want to, you know, sometimes we can start, you know, a little bit of problems out in the crowd. But, like, other than that, dude, we want to be the easiest thing ever for y'all. Because if we're just so. Like I said, we're so blessed. [00:19:52] Speaker C: You brought it in, booties. I got it. [00:19:54] Speaker D: Hell, yeah. [00:19:55] Speaker B: What I love is just that you're always unapologetically you guys. And you talk about that on stage. You talk about that in your music and just being you guys. I heard a story and I don't remember even where I heard this from, but there was a fan that you might have gotten a letter from just because you guys were you on stage. And she might not have appreciated some of the language used if you know the same one I'm talking about. But, yeah, brought her kids. Family friendly kind of thing. Just being you. And you take pride in representing the blue collar folks in the world and you talk about that. What else do you have guys have done that have inspired to represent that type of work mentality? [00:20:44] Speaker A: Yeah, I think it's just built into what we've ever done. We grew up in the DIY music scene, so that was like, you are your booking agent, your manager. You drive the van, you buy the van, you max out all the cards. You do everything yourself with you and your friends and you just do it all. And then you come home and then you work whatever job that will allow you to just randomly fucking leave for. [00:21:14] Speaker D: Too much money to go do it again. [00:21:15] Speaker A: Go do it again. So, like, the only jobs that you can do are gonna be like, blue collar jobs or work at a fucking store or work at a bar. You know, I mean, like, there's. There's. You can't have a real job and do that type of touring. So we've been doing that since we were 1617 years old and we don't really know any different. And we run Lakeview the same exact way. [00:21:37] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:21:37] Speaker A: Because we just. We don't fucking know. So whenever we do write songs about these people and these types of people, it's fucking easy for us because it's like, dude, we are those types of people. Because of last year, the day before we played to 7000 people at tailgates and tall boys. We were fucking building someone a retaining wall and got in the van. Drove ourselves, droves our fucking asses all the way up to Bloomington and played the show. You know, it's like. And that goes back to what Lucas saying is, like, we are so thankful to even be able to do any of this because we know what it takes to do it, you know? And I think some people might. This. It's. Perception is reality. But for us, it's not like, I know you have the followers and the streams and all these things, but it's like, not that long ago, we were opening for jelly roll at tailgates and 12 hours before, saw jelly roll out a fucking golf course because we were cutting the grass there, you know? [00:22:34] Speaker D: Right, right. Yeah. I mean, like, we. I've toured this country don't even know how many fucking times now at this point. I've been touring since I was 16, and I've toured this country on guarantees, like, $75 to $65 a night or a door split or a house show that someone just threw together. I was like, whatever anybody could fucking give. So it's. It. That work ethic is just to get to the next show and was always just work, you know, just to fucking make that work. And you're playing with five to six other bands that same night that are. That are in the same situation or even. Or even less so. To walk into a show like that as a young kid, you have to learn how to fucking win a crowd, and you have to know how to move that, like, to leave some sort of mark there that's gonna make these fucking people remember who the fuck you are. After all these awesome fucking bands play in a basement of somebody's fucking house that their parents are out of town or some shit just to. Just to make enough money to put in their gas tank to get to the next show. So you do that for 15 years, and then you get to walk into Cruisans and you go, holy shit, we get. We get an open tab. Well, no wonder we killed ourselves, you know? I mean, like, I can get any boy I want. Yeah, no. No wonder we almost drank ourselves to death, you know? It was fucking awesome, man. But, like, that. We will never, ever. I will never, ever let myself or Jesse ever take that shit for granted, man. It. It really means a lot. [00:24:18] Speaker C: So I was. I was listening to the album on the way up. Every song, I love looking at credits. I love seeing, you know, who's on it and stuff. Naturally you guys. Or on every song, you guys do it all. How much are you giving out to other people? Are you guys writing only for yourself primarily right now, or how does that look for right now? And what do you see in the future for you guys? [00:24:44] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, right now we're writing primarily for other people just because of the album. And it's just. There's no. Not. No point, but it's just there's no next project yet. So, yeah, me and Luke write a bunch for other artists, obviously, like Elijah and Royal Inn and some of our friends, and then also for some other guys, shout out to ace High, our publisher. But, yeah, we've been. We've been doing that a lot before this tour. That's kind of like all we were doing. So it's nice to have this break, to be able to come out here and play shows and kind of. You kind of get burnout on both things. So it's cool to kind of be able to shuffle it around and do, when you're home, write a lot and then go on the road for a couple months and, like, get re inspired to write more songs. And you think of crazy shit when you're sitting in your bunk and you're just like, I got all these song ideas. [00:25:32] Speaker C: Are you guys kind of a package deal? Are you guys writing separately? Just different stuff? I know you help Elijah with some stuff, but I don't know if you. [00:25:39] Speaker D: Guys are always writing together, like, anything that's like a lake view, right? Obviously, we write it together and produce it together, but, yeah, I mean, we also. We take separate rights for other artists as well. And, yeah, that's like. Like, Jesse just add to what Jesse was saying. Like, there's. There's some artists that we write stuff still intentionally for Lake View and. But it's so far away from the fact that we'll get to put that stuff out that some other artists are into it and they want to put it on hold and they were thinking about cutting it. Dude, we're. Yeah, please do that. We love that. We're really proud of the songs either way. And if you don't cut it by the Time album release comes around, guess what? We'll happily put that bad boy out. [00:26:23] Speaker C: You know, and that's something that's been new in this past year for you guys, of doing that and getting that opportunity because that's all you guys are committed to doing. I know you were on a. Right a while ago out in mountain somewhere doing. [00:26:35] Speaker A: Yeah, we had, like, a little writers retreat. [00:26:37] Speaker D: Well, it's the first time we. We've been doing it our whole lives. Was first time we actually get paid to do it. [00:26:42] Speaker C: Exactly. Yeah. [00:26:43] Speaker D: Which is pretty cool because in the. [00:26:45] Speaker C: Past when I messaged you, you'd be like, man, I'm bartending tonight. Hey, I'm doing this. But, you know, knowing that you guys are just doing that, pretty sick. [00:26:52] Speaker A: It's taken a few years, but yeah, we're here, we're making money writing songs. It's fucking crazy. [00:26:58] Speaker D: You know how many times you pissed off my boss calling me into the day and I would always take it, man, so many times, man. I'd be working for these rich guys, like wheeling these trees and digging these huge holes and shit. Austin's calling. I gotta take this, dude. Got a calm, bouncing. No, no, no, I'm gonna take it. You have no idea. I gotta talk to this guy. [00:27:18] Speaker C: That's funny. [00:27:19] Speaker D: So yeah, man. [00:27:20] Speaker B: Being four dates into, into the current tour, brand new album coming out within the last few days too. Is that just all timing? Is that something that's been planned for a little while? [00:27:30] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Once you, once we knew we got the tour, we were like. Because we were gonna put it out maybe a little bit earlier in the summer. I think just being able to anchor it to something as absolutely massive as this. Yeah, it's just a dream come true for us. So we're super excited for the album. Seems like people like it. If you don't like it, make sure you comment. Tell us we're pieces of shit. [00:27:52] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah. The team around us is like just fucking genius. And everybody, somehow, even though there's so many people in different companies and reaching out and helping in every way they can, everybody's working together in this beautiful thing that is the album now. I was like, I mean, like Jesse was saying it was supposed to come out a little earlier. I was like, well, we had like three release dates prior to this one. And somehow they're like, yeah, you just got to trust people that been around doing it for a long time and it's hard to because we're also been doing it for a long time. Or like, can we just get this shit out? We're just so excited to finally have it out. But I couldn't ask for a better release plan than. And then everybody in our team put together. [00:28:40] Speaker C: Sorry for the first meeting you guys about those details. First time meeting you, everything's, you know, happy go lucky, this and that. Getting to know both of you and most people, I think from the outside would think, oh, dude, these guys just are wild childs, all this stuff. But then both of you are so detail oriented, so detail orient about so many different things about the industry, how venues work, to your artwork, to all this stuff where I'm like, holy shit. I'm, like, way more detailed than I would have ever imagined being, but that's what it takes every single time. [00:29:14] Speaker A: Yeah, we think it helps that because of the diy stuff and the jobs that we've had, like, not only we. [00:29:19] Speaker D: Had to do it ourselves. [00:29:19] Speaker A: Yeah, we always did it ourselves. And, like, outside of the blue collar stuff, like, me and Luke were on every facet of. We've. We've loaded, we've been stagehands, we've been the security. We've taken the tickets at the front. We've done front of house. We've been the band on stage playing at the venue, you know, in the green room. Not fucking the green room up, because we've had to clean the fucking green room. So it's like, we pride ourselves in going to these places, like, cruisins and these, like, clubs and going. Playing, being respectful and I having a great time. But, like, we know we're. We know what it's like to be the production staff and all these things. And I think having that, like you say, detail oriented, I think for us, it's just like, we just have a zoomed out view of what it takes to put something on like this. So walking into this, if you have any ego, you check that shit at the fucking door because, yeah, right. Stage hand and me are no fucking different, you know? [00:30:16] Speaker D: Right. Yeah, we've been. We've been reprimanded a few times for pushing our own cases around here. [00:30:22] Speaker A: They're like, stop. [00:30:23] Speaker D: Help. Yeah. [00:30:23] Speaker A: You know, the artists. Really? No, dude, fuck off. [00:30:25] Speaker D: Yeah. I'm like, hey, man, no one's gonna ever tell me not to touch my own stuff, but I really appreciate what you think you're doing, but, like, no one here is. I'm. If they're doing. They're doing a great job. Everybody's here is doing a great job. If I can be a part of making their job just a little bit fucking easier for my little minuscule band that's gonna open this show compared to everybody else. Let us do it. Yeah, I mean, just let us do it. It makes us feel good. [00:30:54] Speaker B: What else do you guys like to do outside of music? [00:30:56] Speaker D: What. [00:30:56] Speaker B: What are some hobbies you have? You're talking about movies earlier, stuff like that. On day off coming up. [00:31:01] Speaker D: Smoke crack like that. Well, math? Well, yeah. What kind of math? More is, like, cheaper now. You know, it's come down in price rules going up. Yeah. You know, Biden administration really fucked up the crack price out here, and it's just really fucking shit up. Yeah. [00:31:23] Speaker A: Yeah. We don't have a bunch of time for hobbies, but if we did, we'd. [00:31:26] Speaker D: Probably sit on beach, motorcycles. Sit on a beach, ride motorcycles, go fishing. Sit on the fucking beach. [00:31:33] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:31:34] Speaker D: Shoot guns. Yeah. All the stuff. All the cool stuff that everybody should want to do. [00:31:40] Speaker A: This is hobby. Turn into a fucking career. So, I mean, I can't. I can't be upset about it. [00:31:44] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:31:45] Speaker C: When you have downtime, that means you're not grinding it. [00:31:49] Speaker D: Shit's hard work. But I retired. I retired last year when. When I finally got to pay all my fucking bills. First time in my life at 36 years old to. With our own music. Yeah, that was it, man. That was it. And it's stressful. It is hard. It's tired as fuck. Mandy working in that Nashville fucking sun, that fucking aged me hella fast, man. But I'm retired. This is everything from that point on. Now, the worst fucking day, like, getting broken down in the desert. That is still easier than 98% of my whole entire fucking life. [00:32:27] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:32:28] Speaker D: And so I'm blessed. [00:32:30] Speaker A: Same. [00:32:30] Speaker B: So I want to be respectful of your guys this time and all of that. I know my buddy Austin here has got it. Got one more question that he love y'all. Always ends it on. [00:32:38] Speaker A: Oh, boy. [00:32:39] Speaker B: But when I think Luke and Jesse from Lakeview and just giving us the time to sit here today, I, as a fan, truly appreciate it. [00:32:47] Speaker D: It's our pleasure. [00:32:47] Speaker A: Our pleasure, man. [00:32:49] Speaker C: And Ryan is looking at it. We didn't really cover. Ryan looks at it from the fan perspective of he's worked all. While you guys are playing the festival, Ryan's filling campers with water. Ryan's out there grinding. And again, just like in the festival, we're all doing a bunch of different jobs. I try to always make time to see you guys stuff. But anyway, so Ryan has gotten to see, and Ryan has been like, dude, I am a late U fan. And I love that when my own friends can also be like, I love these guys. [00:33:18] Speaker D: I tried to work to three years ago, I tried to work at tailgate tall boys so I could, like, just so I didn't lose my truck, you know, while I was gone playing that. [00:33:28] Speaker C: That is a crazy. [00:33:29] Speaker D: I filled out the application. Yeah. I filled out the application and stuff, and I was like, you know what? There's gonna be. I get up there early enough to do that. [00:33:36] Speaker A: We'll do anything. [00:33:37] Speaker D: Yeah. Oh, yeah. We'll do it all. [00:33:39] Speaker C: $20. [00:33:41] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. $20 is $20. [00:33:43] Speaker C: I mean, so someday I hope we have a big sponsor that kind of sponsors this segment right now can just be sponsored by Lakeview for right now. It's something I like to ask. It's kind of a gut decision, you know, you're on a plane. [00:33:57] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:33:58] Speaker C: All of a sudden, planes going down. You got a bail. Yeah, you got a bail, you got a parachute. [00:34:03] Speaker A: Okay. [00:34:03] Speaker C: But you got to grab five albums to listen to for the rest of your life. [00:34:08] Speaker A: Five album. [00:34:09] Speaker C: Five albums. I'm an albums guy. Five albums. The rest of your life, what do you do? [00:34:13] Speaker A: You can't do three. Five is a lot. You got it. Five cds and you got a fucking cd player. What do you have? [00:34:22] Speaker C: It's not the point. Okay? When you land on the island, there is a record player, there's a fully charged, at least, you know, have. [00:34:32] Speaker A: You're not immediately jerking off one last. [00:34:35] Speaker C: Time before you grab your parachute. [00:34:37] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:34:38] Speaker D: I might pound off the panel like. [00:34:40] Speaker C: You'Re gonna have the rest of your days. [00:34:42] Speaker A: Oh, you survive. [00:34:43] Speaker C: Well, yes. You have a parachute. [00:34:45] Speaker A: Well, that doesn't mean you survive. I mean, the likelihood of dying from a parachute is pretty high, right? [00:34:50] Speaker C: Possibly, I don't know. [00:34:51] Speaker D: You could jerk off on the way down. Very true. [00:34:55] Speaker A: By Red Bull. [00:34:56] Speaker D: Parachuting down. You got enough time? [00:34:58] Speaker A: You got another hour. I need a good minute, maybe. [00:35:02] Speaker D: What? [00:35:02] Speaker C: Three albums? What are you listening to? Don't complicate it, man. [00:35:06] Speaker A: I'm gonna go. Continuum by John Mayer. Fuck, I don't fucking know. That's like, my favorite album. [00:35:19] Speaker D: John Mayer over all the right reasons. Nickelback Beauty and the breakdown by barrier dead and dreaming out loud. One republic. It's a great forever. [00:35:29] Speaker C: I've John Mayer live in Los Angeles. [00:35:31] Speaker A: That's a great record. Yeah, it's a good record. [00:35:33] Speaker C: It's a good one. [00:35:35] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm probably just that one. A lot of beating off John Mayer. [00:35:39] Speaker D: Just. Just gone Mayor forever. [00:35:41] Speaker C: So further is grabbing a box of tissues, a John Mayer album, and he's jumping, jumping. [00:35:48] Speaker D: Just kind of like almost crying a little bit. John Mayer. [00:35:53] Speaker A: Fuck it, dude. You heard it here first, folks. [00:35:56] Speaker C: Yeah. This segment is brought to you by Lakeview. Thank you, boys. [00:36:01] Speaker D: Love you guys. I love you. [00:36:02] Speaker C: Appreciate you guys. [00:36:03] Speaker D: Thank you. Thank you. [00:36:05] Speaker C: Beers. [00:36:06] Speaker A: Cheers, baby. [00:36:11] Speaker D: Go to tailgate, tall boys. Fucking great job.
